Connect your WhatsApp Business number to Agentech Assistant
Connecting WhatsApp means working through a few screens that belong to Meta (the company behind WhatsApp and Facebook). Most people finish in about 10 minutes. If anything on Meta's side gets in the way, you don't have to work it out alone. This guide covers every message Meta can show you, and our team is one email away.
Who does what
Three parties take part in connecting your number. Knowing who owns each step tells you where to look when something stops.
| Who | What they do |
|---|---|
| You | Own the phone number and the WhatsApp Business app on your phone. Sign in with the Facebook account that manages your business. Approve the connection on your phone. |
| Meta | Checks that your number is allowed to connect, sends the verification code, creates or picks your WhatsApp Business account, and reviews your business. Every error that appears inside the Facebook popup comes from Meta. |
| Agentech | Opens Meta's popup for you, stores the connection once Meta approves it, and runs your assistant on your number from then on. Any message shown on the Agentech dashboard, outside the popup, comes from us. Sets how many WhatsApp numbers your package includes (one, unless we've agreed more on your package). |
Neither we nor anyone else can complete Meta's steps on your behalf. They need your Facebook login and your phone. We can tell you exactly what to do at each one, though, and we will.
Two ways to connect
The Connect page offers two actions. Pick the one that matches the number you want your assistant to answer on — the screens Meta shows you differ after that.
| You want | Pick | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| The WhatsApp Business number you already use on your phone | Use the number I already have | Your app keeps working, your chats stay, and your assistant replies on the same number. Nothing is registered fresh and no PIN is needed. |
| A number that isn't on WhatsApp at all yet | Connect a new number | Meta registers the number for you. Everything lives in the dashboard — there's no WhatsApp Business app to keep, and no old chats to bring across. Meta verifies the number by SMS or a voice call. |
If you pick Use the number I already have and Meta registers it as a new number anyway, see "Agentech says: Connected — as a new number" below.
Fix: if the number is already in the WhatsApp Business app on a phone, always use Use the number I already have. Using Connect a new number on it will fail, because Meta refuses to register a number that is signed in to WhatsApp somewhere.
What you need
Everything in this list applies to Use the number I already have. For Connect a new number only points 3 and 4 apply, and the number must not be signed in to WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business anywhere — deregister it there first.
-
Your number is signed in to the WhatsApp Business app right now. It has to be the green WhatsApp Business app, not the regular WhatsApp app, and version 2.24.17 or newer. Update it from the App Store or Google Play if you're unsure. Still on regular WhatsApp? Move the number to WhatsApp Business first (it keeps your chats), use it normally for a while, then come back.
-
Your number isn't connected to another provider. On the phone, open WhatsApp Business → Settings → Account → Business Platform.
- If you see Disconnect, the number is already linked to a provider (another chatbot, CRM or WhatsApp platform). Tap Disconnect, then wait 15 minutes before connecting to us.
- If you don't see a Business Platform option, or it offers to connect, you're fine.
-
You can sign in to Facebook as an admin of your business. Use the Facebook account that manages your Meta business portfolio, the one in Meta Business Suite. It needs two-factor authentication turned on (Facebook → Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security). Meta asks for it partway through if it's missing.
-
Your phone is in your hand. Meta sends a confirmation into the WhatsApp Business app during the flow, and you'll need to tap it.
Step by step
On the Agentech dashboard
- In the left menu, under WhatsApp, open Connect.
- Click Connect my WhatsApp number (under Use the number I already have), or Connect a new number if the number isn't on WhatsApp yet. If you see Request access instead, WhatsApp isn't on your account yet. Click it to reach us.
- A Facebook window opens. If nothing opens, see "Nothing happens when I click Connect" below.
Inside Meta's window
Meta sometimes changes the order of these screens. The things to do stay the same.
-
Log in / Continue as [your name]. Use the Facebook account that manages your business.
-
"Seamlessly connect your account to Flixago." Click Continue. Why Flixago? Flixago is the verified company that holds Agentech's registration with Meta. Connecting to Flixago is connecting to Agentech.
-
Phone number. Type the number with your country code the first time. If you've connected it before, pick it from the list.
-
Verification code. Meta shows you a code on screen. Keep this window open.
-
Confirm the number. This step is the one that differs between the two actions.
If you picked Use the number I already have: a message arrives on your phone in WhatsApp Business from the official Facebook Business account.
- Tap Connect.
- Tap Connect to the Business Platform.
- Tap Confirm to allow sharing your chat history. Your chats stay on your phone either way.
- When asked, enter the code from step 7.
If you picked Connect a new number: there is no app to confirm in. Meta sends a code to the number by SMS or a voice call. Enter it in Meta's window.
-
Business portfolio / WhatsApp Business account. Choose your business. If Meta offers to create one, that's fine for a first-time setup.
-
"Review what you'll share." Meta lists what Agentech will be able to do: manage your WhatsApp accounts, send and receive conversations, and log messaging events. Click Confirm. (This screen only appears the first time a Facebook account connects to us.)
-
"Your account is connected." Click Finish. Meta mentions reviewing your business "within 24 hours". That's normal, and your assistant can reply while it happens.
Back on the dashboard
- Your number appears in the list on the WhatsApp Connect page. You may see:
- "Meta is still reviewing this business account. Replies work now; outbound reach stays limited until it's approved." Meta is checking your business. Nothing for you to do.
- Importing your old chats… X%. Meta is syncing your history.
- Active. Your assistant is live on WhatsApp.
- Paused. Connected, with your assistant off — see the question below.
- The dashboard asks whether the AI should start replying on this number.
"Should the AI start replying to your customers?"
A number you connect for the first time starts with your assistant off, so nothing is sent to your customers until you decide. Right after connecting, the dashboard asks "Should the AI start replying to your customers?" with Yes and No and "You can change this anytime." It can't be closed or skipped.
- Yes — your assistant answers customers who write to that number, from the next message.
- No — it stays off; messages still arrive in your Inbox and on your phone. Good for a number you only use for campaigns.
You're asked whenever your workspace has a package: every package includes WhatsApp replies, and so does the free trial. In a workspace that only has WhatsApp campaigns, the number stays off without a question; if a package is added later, the question appears then. Reconnecting a number you already had keeps its setting and asks nothing, and numbers connected before this question existed kept their setting.
To change your answer later, go to WhatsApp → Connect and use the AI replies to messages switch on the number's row ("Answers your customers in WhatsApp."). With it off the row reads "Replies paused: messages on that channel still arrive in your Inbox, but the AI will not answer them until you switch “AI replies to messages” back on. Nothing received while paused is answered afterwards." The same row has AI reads photos and AI listens to voice notes.
"Meta is still reviewing this business account"
Meta reviews new WhatsApp Business accounts against its WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy. While it does, your assistant keeps replying to customers who message you; only how many new people you can message first stays limited until Meta approves. This is Meta's step, and nothing is wrong with your connection.
- Usually there's nothing to do. Meta says it gets in touch within 24 hours if there's an issue. Use Check with Meta under your number on WhatsApp → Connect to see the latest decision.
- Watch the email and Meta Business Suite notifications of the Facebook account that connected WhatsApp. If Meta needs more information, it asks there.
- Make sure your business name and website in Meta Business Suite match your real business, and that what you sell is allowed on WhatsApp.
- Still waiting after 2 days? Email us and we'll look at it with you.
How many people you can message first
This is the limit Meta means. A newly connected number may start a conversation with 250 people in 24 hours. Replies to customers who message you first don't count towards it and are never limited.
Meta raises the limit on its own as you send — 250, then 2,000, 10,000, 100,000, and finally no limit. You don't apply for it. Meta looks at how much you send and how customers react (whether they block or report you), and moves the number up. Getting your business account approved raises it too.
Your current limit is on WhatsApp → Connect, under your number: "You can start 250 new chats a day". We email you when Meta moves it, up or down. Campaigns show it too, next to the recipient count, before you send.
A campaign with more recipients than that limit still sends. The people over the limit come back as failed, with Meta's reason, and you send to them again from the campaign's report the next day. You aren't charged for a message Meta refused.
"Meta rejected this number"
- Open Business Support Home in Meta Business Suite with the Facebook account that connected WhatsApp. Meta shows the reason there.
- If you think it's a mistake, request a review from the same page.
- Email us the reason Meta gives. We can't overturn Meta's decision, but we'll help you understand it and prepare the review request.
"Meta is reviewing your display name. We'll let you know when it decides."
The display name is the business name your customers see at the top of the chat. Meta checks every new or changed display name against its display name rules. This is Meta's step, and your connection is fine while it happens.
- There's nothing to do but wait. When Meta decides, we tell the owner of the workspace by Telegram or email, whichever they picked. You don't need to keep Agentech open.
- The line under your number on WhatsApp → Connect reads "Meta is reviewing your display name…", or "Meta is reviewing the display name “[name]”…" when we know the name you asked for.
"Meta rejected your display name. Request a new name in WhatsApp Manager."
The line under your number on WhatsApp → Connect shows the name you asked for, when we know it ("Meta rejected the display name “[name]”…"), and Meta's reason, when Meta gives one ("Meta rejected [the name]: [reason]. Request a new name in WhatsApp Manager."). Our message to you shows them too.
- Most rejections happen because the name doesn't clearly match your business. It should be the name on your website, your shop sign or your Facebook Page, with no extra words, slogans or emoji.
- Open WhatsApp Manager with the Facebook account that connected WhatsApp. Go to Phone numbers, pick your number and request a new display name.
- Meta reviews the new name, and we'll tell you again when it decides.
- Still stuck after a second rejection? Email us the name you tried and Meta's reason.
What changes on your phone after connecting
You keep using WhatsApp Business on your phone. Messages you send or receive there and messages your assistant sends both belong to the same conversations. Meta turns a few things off for connected numbers:
- Disappearing messages, view once and live location are turned off in 1-to-1 chats.
- Broadcast lists are turned off.
- Group chats aren't handled by the assistant.
- Only the last 6 months of chat history can be synced.
Known limit on our side: messages you send from the WhatsApp Business app itself don't appear in the Agentech Inbox yet.
What Meta charges you
Meta bills your WhatsApp Business account directly, with the card you add in Meta Business Suite → Billing and payments. Agentech adds nothing on top of Meta's price. Our packages cover the assistant; Meta's fee is separate.
- Campaign messages (templates you send to a list) are charged by Meta for every message it delivers, at its marketing rate for the recipient's country.
- Replies to customers who message you first: from 1 October 2026, Meta gives each number 1,000 free replies a month. After that, Meta charges each reply at its utility rate, which is far lower than the marketing rate.
- Your WhatsApp Business account needs a payment method. Without a working card, Meta still delivers your first 1,000 replies each month, then stops delivering replies; campaign messages need the card from the first one.
- Replies you type in the WhatsApp Business App on your phone are free and don't count toward the 1,000. Replies sent from this dashboard, and the AI's replies, do.
Meta sets and changes these prices, not us. Your own rates and what you've spent are in WhatsApp Manager.
Fix: if messages stop going out and a campaign shows "A payment problem on your WhatsApp Business account stopped this message", add or fix the card in Meta Business Suite → Billing and payments (see that heading below).
If something goes wrong
Find the message you saw below. Messages inside the Facebook window come from Meta, and the fix is usually on your phone or in Meta Business Suite. After fixing, go back to WhatsApp → Connect and click the same connect button again — or use Try again in the panel beside Meta's window.
"This phone number is already registered with the product" / "Please disconnect your business platform to continue"
The number is still linked to a WhatsApp platform. Fix: WhatsApp Business → Settings → Account → Business Platform → Disconnect. Wait 15 minutes, then connect again.
"The phone number you entered is already registered"
The number is registered directly on Meta's Cloud API. This one can't be fixed from the phone alone, and fixing it the wrong way can cost you your WhatsApp chats. Fix: email us before doing anything. We'll look at your case and guide you through it.
"The business is already sharing this WhatsApp Business account with a partner" / "This account is already shared with another partner" / "Duplicate Service Provider…"
Another provider is already connected to this WhatsApp Business account. Fix: disconnect the other provider first, either from WhatsApp Business → Settings → Account → Business Platform or from that provider's own dashboard. Wait 15 minutes and connect again.
"Your phone number isn't eligible to connect to the WhatsApp Business Platform"
Meta wants to see more normal activity on the WhatsApp Business app before it allows the connection. Meta doesn't publish a fixed number of days. Fix: keep using WhatsApp Business normally on that number (chatting with customers) and try again in a few days.
"Your phone number isn't registered with WhatsApp Business"
The number isn't signed in to the WhatsApp Business app, or it's on regular WhatsApp. Fix: install WhatsApp Business, sign in with the number, and use it for a while.
"The phone number you have entered is not associated with the business you selected"
The number belongs to a different Meta business than the one you picked. Fix: pick the business that owns the number. If you don't know which one that is, or the number is linked to a business you no longer manage, unlink it from that business in Meta Business Suite first. Email us if you're stuck. This case is common and we can guide you.
"The phone number is already linked to a Facebook Page"
Fix: in Meta Business Suite, remove the WhatsApp number from the Facebook Page's settings, then connect again.
"Couldn't share WhatsApp Business account with partners" / "Your account wasn't able to be shared at this time"
Meta doesn't document a single cause. In practice it usually means one of the things under What you need isn't met: most often the number is already registered on Meta's platform or already linked to another business. Fix: check What you need again. If everything is in place, email us with the Session ID shown at the bottom of Meta's window.
"Update your WhatsApp Business App to the latest version"
Fix: update WhatsApp Business from the App Store or Google Play, then connect again.
"This feature is unavailable for phone numbers from this region"
Meta doesn't offer this connection for numbers from your country yet. Email us and we'll tell you what's possible.
"You have requested a verification code too many times" / "You have tried too many times"
Fix: wait an hour, then try once, calmly, following the steps in order.
"You'll need to enable two-factor authentication" / "You need to set up two-factor authentication"
Fix: Facebook → Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security → Two-factor authentication. Turn it on, then connect again.
"You're attempting to access this business from a new device or location"
Fix: refresh the page and complete Meta's security check, then connect again.
"Your WhatsApp Business account is restricted" / "To add a phone number, you'll need to address any restrictions"
Meta has limited your business account, usually for a policy reason. Fix: open Business Support Home in Meta Business Suite to see why and appeal. We can't lift a Meta restriction, but we can help you read what Meta is asking for.
"You already have created the maximum number of WhatsApp Business accounts"
Fix: in Meta Business Suite → Settings → Accounts → WhatsApp accounts, delete old or unused accounts you don't need, then connect again.
The window only offers "Enter a new phone number", "virtual number" or "Test number"
That's normal. Type your own number in the phone number field. If Meta then starts sending an SMS code to create a new account instead of the confirmation in your WhatsApp Business app, stop: Meta didn't recognise your number as a WhatsApp Business app number. Check that the number is signed in to WhatsApp Business and not linked to another provider.
Agentech says: "Connected — as a new number"
Meta registered this as a new WhatsApp number instead of linking the app you were using. Your connection works, but your old chats didn't come across. Email us so we can check it with you.
Channels says: "Old chats and contacts couldn't be imported — email us and we'll check it with you"
Meta refused to start importing your WhatsApp Business app chats and contacts when you connected. Your number still works: your assistant receives and replies to new messages. Fix: email us. Don't reconnect to retry: Meta allows the import only once, within 24 hours of the first time the number connects. Reconnecting the same number later doesn't start a new import. It isn't an error when you reconnect, either: your number keeps what the first connect imported.
A campaign says: "This WhatsApp number isn't activated for sending yet"
Meta hasn't switched the number on for sending, even if your templates are approved. Templates belong to your WhatsApp Business account, but sending belongs to the number. Connect WhatsApp again from the dashboard. That activates the number. Then send the campaign again.
A campaign says: "A payment problem on your WhatsApp Business account stopped this message"
Meta accepted the message, then refused to deliver it because your WhatsApp Business account has no valid payment method (Meta error 131042). Meta bills your WhatsApp Business account directly for campaign messages, so it needs a working card there. Click Open Meta billing next to the failed recipient, or go to Meta Business Suite → Billing and payments, and add or fix the card for the business that owns your WhatsApp account. Then open the campaign and click Resend failed. Only the recipients who didn't get it are sent again, and messages that failed this way don't use up your messages.
Use Duplicate instead when you want to message the same people again on purpose, for example with a small change. It makes a new draft with the same template and recipients and opens its Recipients page for you to edit.
"The phone number you entered is already registered" after Connect a new number
You picked the new-number action for a number that is already on WhatsApp somewhere. Meta won't register it twice.
Fix: if this is the number you use in the WhatsApp Business app, close Meta's window and use Use the number I already have instead. If it's on regular WhatsApp on someone's phone and you really want it registered fresh, delete the account from that phone first (WhatsApp → Settings → Account → Delete my account), wait a few minutes, then try again — and note that deleting takes that phone's chats with it.
"Your package includes one WhatsApp number. Contact us to add another."
You see this on WhatsApp → Connect instead of Meta's window. Your package includes one active WhatsApp number, and it's in use. (If we've agreed more, it reads "Your package includes 2 WhatsApp numbers. Contact us to add another." with your number.) Only numbers that are connected and working count: a number you disconnected, or one Meta refused, never blocks you. We check this before Meta's window opens, so nothing has been changed on Meta's side or on your phone.
You can also see the same line in the panel beside Meta's window, after it closes. That happens when another number was connected at the same moment, for example from a second browser tab.
Fix: switching numbers? On WhatsApp → Connect, click Disconnect on the old number, then connect the new one. Want both numbers? Click Contact us and we'll add another number to your package. If Meta's window had already finished when you saw this line, the new number may appear on your phone under WhatsApp Business → Settings → Account → Business Platform. You can disconnect it there. Email us if you're unsure.
My number is connected but the assistant doesn't reply — the row says "Paused"
New numbers start with the AI off, and you answered No to "Should the AI start replying to your customers?" — or your workspace only has WhatsApp campaigns and no package, so you weren't asked. Fix: switch AI replies to messages back on on the number's row in WhatsApp → Connect. If your workspace has no package, contact us to add one.
"This WhatsApp number is already connected to another workspace. Disconnect it there first."
The number is still connected in a different Agentech workspace — another of yours, or someone else's. We check this before anything changes on Meta's side, so nothing changed there or on your phone. Fix: open that workspace, go to WhatsApp → Connect, click Disconnect on the number, then connect it here. The old conversations stay in the old workspace. If that other workspace isn't yours, email us.
"Your assistant stopped replying on WhatsApp: …"
The strip at the top of the dashboard reads "Your assistant stopped replying on WhatsApp: [reason]" — usually "you've used this month's messages", "your plan has ended" or "your workspace has no package that includes replies here" — and the number's row shows "Not replying — messages used up" (or "— plan ended", "— no package"). Your number stays connected, but your social media messages (which WhatsApp replies use, like every other channel) have nothing left, so your assistant stays silent: customers are sent nothing (and no message goes out that Meta could charge for), and their messages still arrive in your Inbox and on your phone. Fix: press Request access or Contact us on the strip (both open Support → Contact us), or email us. Replies start again with the next message once you have messages available. Details in Usage and plans.
Connecting from a phone
On a phone, Meta's steps open in the same tab instead of a separate window. When you finish them you come back to Channels → WhatsApp with the number connected, and the dashboard asks whether the AI should start replying. If you use the installed Agentech app, Meta opens in a separate browser sheet. That sheet first asks Connect your WhatsApp number to the Agentech workspace "…"? — check it's your workspace and tap Yes, connect. When it says "Done. Go back to the Agentech app.", close the sheet; the number shows up in the app. Fix: if the sheet shows an error such as "This WhatsApp number is already connected to another workspace. Disconnect it there first.", follow the fix under that heading on this page. If you stop partway through Meta's steps, the page you land on says so and links back to Channels → WhatsApp; tap Connect again when you're ready.
"Meta shared more than one WhatsApp number with us, so we can't tell which one you just connected. Connect from a computer, or email us at admin@agentech.tech."
On a phone, Meta tells us which WhatsApp Business accounts you allowed, not which number you just picked. When more than one of them could be the new one, we stop rather than guess. Fix: open the dashboard on a computer and connect from Channels → WhatsApp there — Meta's window on a computer names the number. If you can't, email us.
"We didn't get Meta's answer"
Meta's window closed or was left without sending its result back to the dashboard. Meta may have finished on its side, but nothing is saved in Agentech yet, so the number doesn't reply and isn't checked against your other workspaces. Fix: tap Connect again and finish every step in Meta's window. If Meta showed an error before you came back, email us a screenshot and we'll tell you what to do.
Nothing happens when I click Connect
- Allow pop-ups for the Agentech dashboard in your browser.
- Close any old "Facebook Login for Business" windows left open from an earlier try.
- Refresh the page and click once.
When to email us, and what to send
Email us whenever a fix above doesn't work, or before any step that mentions deleting or registering a number. You can also open Support → Contact us in the dashboard.
Email: admin@agentech.tech
Include these and we can usually answer in one reply:
- A screenshot of the message you saw.
- The Session ID from the bottom of Meta's window, if you were in it.
- The phone number you were connecting.
- Your workspace name on Agentech.
Common questions
Will I lose my WhatsApp chats? No, as long as you pick Use the number I already have. Your chats stay in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone. Connect a new number is for a number with no WhatsApp on it, so there are no chats to keep.
Can I answer from my phone after using "Connect a new number"? No. A number registered that way has no WhatsApp Business app behind it — you and your assistant work from the dashboard Inbox. Use Use the number I already have if answering from the phone matters to you.
Can I keep answering customers from my phone? Yes. That's the point of this connection. You and your assistant share the same number.
Why do I need to log in to Facebook? WhatsApp belongs to Meta, and Meta only lets businesses connect through a Facebook login.
Why does it say Flixago? Flixago is the verified company that holds Agentech's registration with Meta. Connecting to Flixago is connecting to Agentech.
How do I disconnect? From your phone: WhatsApp Business → Settings → Account → Business Platform → Disconnect Account. Your number goes back to being a normal WhatsApp Business app number.
Can I connect more than one WhatsApp number? Yes. One number is included in your package, and we add more on request: click Contact us in the dashboard or email us. Each number replies to its own customers: your assistant answers on the number the customer wrote to. All your numbers share your social media messages, Campaign messages and API messages. On Templates and Campaigns, a Number picker at the top chooses which number you're working on.
Can I move my number to Agentech from another provider? Yes. Disconnect it from the other provider (see above), wait 15 minutes, and follow this guide.
